About P+

ctsp-title1Our mission is difficult, yet, very rewarding: we endeavour to provide an avenue through which people can find resources and information about philosophy, Critical thinking, and the philosophy of science. In so doing we hope to enable better appreciations for these disciplines.

We hold to the notion that science is the best way of looking at, and learning about the world; and that espousing a solid partnership between science and philosophy is imperative in the pursuit of truth and happiness. Critical thinking is therefore an essential product of such a partnership, one that benefits the understanding and appreciation of truth.

Solvay Coference of 1927 — International Solvay Institutes for Physics and Chemistry in Brussels, founded by the Belgian industrialist Ernest Solvay in 1912, following the historic invitation-only 1911 Conseil Solvay, considered a turning point in the world of physics

Philosophy + is dedicated to offering information about science, philosophy and critical thinking education. Our goal is to present resources through which our guest can acquire better appreciation for these disciplines…We appreciate your visit, and hope you find what you are looking for. If you believe that improvements can be made to our portal, or would like to suggest a particular resource to us, contact us with that information.

You may ask yourself why this endeavour is important; why should we care about thinking critically?

The answer to this question is simple yet very important: today, more than ever before, people need to be able to filter meaningful information from the inordinate amounts of data they have access to. The advent of the information age has given way to the dissemination of unverified opinions, and in turn to the proliferation of misinformation.

Critical thinking can help…

It is the practice of using a number of different advanced thinking skills in a variety of complex ways. It focuses on thought and looks at how facts are proven, arguments are formed, conclusions are reached and not just what the facts, argument or conclusion may be. It is self-reflective: it involves reflecting on, questioning and testing your own thinking processes.

There are important ideas we must all entertain to be successful in our personal and social lives, and to be of benefit to our society.

Louis Pasteur

"Science is a way of life. Science is a perspective. Science is the process that takes us from confusion to understanding in a manner that's precise, predictive and reliable - a transformation, for those lucky enough to experience it, that is empowering and emotional."
